Doda, Jammu & Kashmir:

In a concerted effort to combat the growing menace of drug abuse, Doda Police organised a police–public meeting at the Police Station in Doda, bringing together civil society members and representatives of the Beopar Mandal.

The meeting was chaired by Mohammad Aslam, who engaged with participants on key social concerns, with a particular focus on the increasing threat of substance abuse in the region.

During the interaction, members of civil society and local traders expressed serious concern over the spread of drugs and its impact on youth and community well-being. They highlighted the need for stronger preventive measures and community awareness to curb the issue.

Addressing the gathering, ASP Aslam assured that strict action would be taken against drug peddlers and those involved in illegal activities. He emphasized that law enforcement agencies are actively working to dismantle drug networks and ensure a safer environment.

He also urged citizens to play an active role in the fight against drugs by sharing timely and credible information with the police. “Public cooperation is essential in identifying and eliminating the drug menace,” he stated.

Officials reiterated that community participation, awareness, and vigilance are key to tackling the problem effectively. The meeting also focused on strengthening trust between the police and the public to enhance coordination in addressing social issues.

Participants appreciated the initiative and expressed their willingness to support the police in ongoing efforts to create a drug-free society.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment from both police and citizens to work together in curbing drug abuse and safeguarding the future of the youth in the region.
