6 June: The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) observed the 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan and World Environment Day at Katra through a series of awareness, health, and environmental initiatives aimed at promoting a drug-free society, public well-being, and ecological sustainability.
The programme witnessed active participation from Shrine Board officials, employees, volunteers, healthcare professionals, and members of the local community. Activities included awareness rallies, health and wellness sessions, CPR training programmes, and a plantation drive designed to encourage environmental responsibility.
As part of the anti-drug campaign, awareness rallies were organized to educate people, especially youth, about the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of leading a healthy and productive life. Participants carried messages highlighting the need for collective efforts to eliminate drug abuse and build a safer society.
The event also featured health and wellness programmes focusing on physical fitness, preventive healthcare, and overall well-being. Experts interacted with participants and emphasized the importance of adopting healthy lifestyles to improve both physical and mental health.
A key highlight of the programme was the CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) training session, where participants received practical guidance on emergency response techniques. The training aimed to enhance public awareness about life-saving skills that can prove crucial during medical emergencies.
In connection with World Environment Day, SMVDSB conducted a plantation drive in and around Katra. Employees and volunteers planted saplings to promote environmental conservation and strengthen green cover in the region. The initiative underscored the importance of protecting natural resources and encouraging sustainable practices.
Officials noted that environmental stewardship and public health are closely interconnected. Increasing green cover not only contributes to ecological balance but also helps improve air quality and overall community well-being.
The observance reflected the Shrine Board’s continued commitment to social responsibility and community welfare. Through awareness campaigns and outreach programmes, SMVDSB has consistently supported initiatives related to health, education, environmental protection, and public awareness.
Participants appreciated the integrated approach of combining anti-drug awareness, health education, emergency preparedness, and environmental conservation under a single programme. Many described the event as a meaningful effort to address important social and public health concerns.
The Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan is part of broader efforts to create awareness about the dangers of substance abuse and encourage positive community engagement. Similarly, World Environment Day serves as a global platform for promoting environmental protection and sustainable development.
By organizing these activities, the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board reinforced its commitment to fostering a healthier, greener, and more responsible society.
Officials expressed hope that such initiatives would inspire greater public participation in social welfare, environmental conservation, and health awareness efforts across the region.
