CEA Launches EADMS Portal for Electrical Safety

OCT 11: The Central Electricity Authority (CEA), the apex technical body under the Ministry of Power, celebrated its 52nd Foundation Day at the Central Water Commission Auditorium, R.K. Puram, New Delhi. The event focused on strategic planning for India’s power sector, including the development of 100 GW nuclear capacity by 2047 and transmission planning for the Brahmaputra Basin in the North East.

The celebration was graced by Shri Pankaj Agarwal, Secretary, Ministry of Power, as Chief Guest, alongside senior officials from PSUs, state utilities, industry associations, and CEA officers. Shri Agarwal praised CEA’s pivotal role in power system planning, policy formulation, and technological innovation, highlighting its contribution to achieving India’s Net-Zero by 2070 goals.

CEA Chairperson Shri Ghanshyam Prasad delivered the welcome address, recalling the Authority’s achievements since its inception in 1973, including generation and transmission planning, grid modernization, and technical standard formulation. He emphasized the importance of digitalization and data-driven decision-making in achieving sustainability and efficiency in the power sector.

Key launches and releases during the event included:

  1. ‘Vidyut Vahini’ – Special Hindi quarterly magazine on nuclear energy contributions.

  2. Road Map for 100 GW Nuclear Capacity by 2047 – Strategic pathway for nuclear expansion.

  3. Master Plan for Evacuation of Power from Hydroelectric Plants in Brahmaputra Basin – Guiding transmission infrastructure development.

  4. Electrical Accident Data Monitoring System (EADMS) Portal – Centralized platform to monitor and minimize electrical accidents nationwide.

The Foundation Day also featured a technical session on “Nuclear Energy for Net-Zero: Opportunities, Challenges, and Pathways”, with experts from the Atomic Energy Commission, AERB, and leading power companies discussing innovations, reactor technology, and industry collaboration.

The event concluded with awards recognizing outstanding contributions by CEA officers and reaffirmed CEA’s commitment to advancing India’s power sector through innovation, sustainability, and strategic planning.
