OCT 12:Chief Secretary Jammu and Kashmir, Atal Dulloo, conducted a detailed review of ongoing Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) road works across the Union Territory. The meeting focused on ensuring timely completion, quality construction, and efficient monitoring of road projects under Phases I to IV of the scheme, which aims to enhance rural connectivity and facilitate socio-economic development.
During the review, CS Dulloo emphasized the critical role of senior officers in overseeing the progress of projects, addressing bottlenecks, and coordinating with contractors for seamless execution. He stressed that robust on-ground monitoring is essential to prevent delays and maintain construction standards. The Chief Secretary highlighted that timely completion of PMGSY roads is vital not only for rural mobility but also for improving access to education, healthcare, and markets in remote areas.
Officials provided a detailed status update on ongoing works, including pending stretches, budget utilization, and quality control measures. CS Dulloo urged departments to adopt modern supervision techniques, including digital monitoring tools, geo-tagging of construction sites, and regular field inspections, to ensure transparency and accountability.
He also directed immediate action on pending projects, instructing officers to identify obstacles and deploy resources efficiently to expedite completion. Quality assurance was underscored as a top priority, with Dulloo reminding officials that long-term durability and safety of roads are essential for sustainable rural development.
