OCT 17: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and related portfolios, Dr. Jitendra Singh, today launched the curtain raiser for the India International Science Festival (IISF) 2025, calling it a “celebration of science and innovation.” The four-day festival will be held from December 6–9, 2025, at Panjab University, Chandigarh, bringing together scientists, researchers, innovators, and students from across the country.
Themed “Vigyan Se Samriddhi – Science to Prosperity”, IISF 2025 will focus on five major themes: Science, Technology and Ecology of North-West India and the Himalayan Region; Science for Society and Education; Atmanirbhar Bharat through Science & Technology; Biotechnology and Bio-economy; and Integration of Traditional Knowledge with Modern Science. The event aims to highlight region-specific innovations and demonstrate India’s capacity for self-reliance and sustainable development.

He noted that initiatives like the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) will democratize research funding, extending support to universities and institutions beyond traditional centres of excellence.
Highlighting the festival’s broader significance, he said IISF will bridge the gap between laboratories and society through scientific exhibitions, competitions, B2B meetings, and cultural programs, fostering public engagement in science. The Minister also stressed India’s ability to blend traditional knowledge systems with cutting-edge modern science, positioning the country as a global leader in innovation.
The curtain raiser was attended by senior officials and scientists, including Prof. Renu Vig, Prof. Rajesh S. Gokhale, Dr. N. Kalaiselvi, Dr. M. Ravichandran, and others, reaffirming the festival’s role in promoting scientific temper and national progress.
