OCT 17: India took a significant step in expanding its global wellness footprint as the Ministry of Ayush delegation participated in the Arctic Circle Assembly 2025 held in Reykjavík, Iceland. Representing India were Prof. (Vaidya) Rabinarayan Acharya, Director General, CCRAS, and Dr. Srinivas Rao Chinta, Joint Advisor (Homoeopathy), Ministry of Ayush.
During a plenary session on “The Role and Importance of the Global South in the Arctic,” Prof. Acharya highlighted India’s proactive engagement in the Arctic region through its comprehensive Arctic Policy. He underlined how traditional systems like Ayurveda and Homoeopathy can contribute to wellness and resilience in extreme environments, offering integrative solutions to global health challenges.
The session, organised by the Government of India, also featured speakers including Rear Admiral T.V.N. Prasanna, Polar Coordinator, Manish Tiwari, Scientist F, NCPOR, and Wassim Said, Emirates Polar Program.
Prof. Acharya proposed launching transdisciplinary clinical trials in Arctic settings, forming a joint research consortium under India’s Arctic Policy, and building capacity for cross-cultural Ayush practices. He stressed on evidence-based research and Ayush integration within India’s global diplomacy framework.
India’s participation reflects its vision of merging traditional knowledge with modern science to advance health innovation and sustainability. The engagement reinforces India’s role as a responsible global partner promoting integrative health, scientific collaboration, and people-to-people partnerships across continents.
