OCT 11: Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Rakesh Minhas, who also serves as the District Election Officer, chaired a comprehensive meeting with Nodal Officers to review the preparedness for the upcoming bye-election to the 77-Nagrota Assembly Constituency, scheduled for November 11, 2025.

The meeting aimed at finalizing the plan of action, assigning responsibilities, and ensuring that all arrangements are in place for the smooth and transparent conduct of the polls. Deputy District Election Officer Dr. Rajesh Kumar has been designated as the Returning Officer and will oversee the entire polling process.

While addressing the officers, Dr. Minhas underscored the importance of upholding the principles of free, fair, and peaceful elections. He directed all departments to work in close coordination and adhere strictly to the guidelines of the Election Commission of India. Special emphasis was laid on logistical readiness, voter facilitation, and security arrangements at polling stations.

Dr. Minhas instructed that all poll-related activities—ranging from the distribution of materials and training of staff to the deployment of security personnel—should be completed well before the polling date. He also reviewed the arrangements for communication, transportation, and power supply, ensuring that there are no gaps in coordination on the day of the election.

The meeting was attended by ADDC Sher Singh, ADC Ansuya Jamwal, Deputy Director Information Ashu Kumari, Tehsildars, and other concerned officers from various departments. The officials assured full preparedness and commitment to ensuring a smooth electoral process.

The bye-election to the Nagrota Assembly Constituency holds significant administrative importance, and the district administration’s proactive approach reflects its readiness to facilitate an efficient and credible electoral exercise.
