JULY 25: In preparation for the annual Shree Machail Mata Yatra 2025, Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Ramesh Kumar, and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, jointly chaired a high-level meeting to evaluate arrangements for the smooth and secure conduct of the religious pilgrimage.

The meeting saw participation from key officials including the DIG Traffic, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, SSP Kishtwar, Managing Director JPDCL, Secretary Culture, and representatives from departments such as Tourism, Transport, Health, and others involved in the Yatra’s execution.

The Deputy Commissioner and SSP Kishtwar presented a detailed PowerPoint presentation highlighting the current status of civic and security preparations. During the review, the Divisional Commissioner took stock of the basic amenities being arranged for the pilgrims along the route from Kishtwar to Gulabgarh and onward to the shrine.

Focus areas included night halt accommodations, availability of power and water supply, healthcare facilities, mobile network coverage, and sanitation. Kumar stressed the need for adequate accommodation, including Dharamshalas, homestays, and guesthouses at designated stopovers.

He directed officials to install sufficient mobile toilet units en route and ensure that pilgrims strictly follow the designated path to the shrine. He also emphasized the enforcement of cut-off timings for specific route segments to ensure disciplined movement and safety. The District Administration was instructed to widely disseminate information regarding the cut-off timings and safety protocols through various media.

IGP Bhim Sen Tuti reviewed the security setup and advised that pilgrim movement be regulated under a convoy system with strict adherence to security protocols. He recommended halting pilgrim movement post the cut-off time to avoid risks during night hours.

He also called for comprehensive CCTV surveillance at the shrine and other sensitive points, along with well-managed queues, and the deployment of Fire and Emergency services. The Tourism Department was directed to launch extensive awareness campaigns through print, electronic media, and hoardings.

The joint review aimed to ensure that all logistical, civic, and security arrangements are in place well before the commencement of the yatra to guarantee a safe and seamless pilgrimage experience for devotees.
