Minister Satish Sharma Inaugurates Road Projects, Uplifts Border Communities in Akhnoor

JUNE 18: In a significant step toward regional development, Minister Satish Sharma inaugurated multiple infrastructure projects in Akhnoor, reinforcing the government’s commitment to connectivity and community welfare. The projects were launched under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) and Public Works Department (PWD) initiatives, aimed at enhancing road infrastructure in border and rural areas.

Among the key projects inaugurated was the vital Chowki-Choura to Ghar Majoor road, a strategic stretch expected to significantly ease transportation for residents of the area. In addition, the minister flagged off the macadamization work of the Panya-Bindigala road, a move that is expected to improve durability and driving conditions on this crucial link.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Satish Sharma emphasized the government’s long-term vision for inclusive infrastructure development. He stated that road connectivity not only improves mobility but also boosts access to healthcare, education, and economic opportunities for remote communities, particularly in border areas.

Beyond infrastructure, the minister also turned his attention to humanitarian efforts. He distributed relief kits to families affected by border-related challenges, demonstrating the administration’s responsiveness to the needs of vulnerable communities. The kits included essential supplies aimed at supporting day-to-day living and ensuring timely assistance.

In a heartwarming gesture, Sharma also felicitated meritorious students from the Chamb Constituency. These young achievers were recognized for their academic excellence, as the minister underscored the importance of investing in education as a foundation for long-term progress. He encouraged students to pursue knowledge and skill development, affirming the government’s ongoing support for educational initiatives.

During his address, the minister reiterated that the government is focused on a balanced approach to development—where infrastructure, education, and welfare receive equal priority. He praised local authorities and community leaders for their coordination and commitment to implementing these projects efficiently.

The event was attended by local residents, public representatives, and departmental officials, who welcomed the initiatives with appreciation. With these steps, the region of Akhnoor, especially the Chamb Constituency, is set to witness enhanced connectivity and renewed focus on social upliftment.
