Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather Reviews Assembly Session Preparations Ahead of October 23

OCT 16:As Jammu and Kashmir gears up for its upcoming Assembly session scheduled for October 23, Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the overall preparedness of departments and ensure smooth functioning throughout the session.

During the meeting, the Speaker emphasized coordination, punctuality, and timely execution of responsibilities by all concerned departments. He directed the General Administration Department (GAD) to ensure that all questions and replies are submitted well before the deadlines, allowing seamless proceedings within the House.

The Department of Law, Justice & Parliamentary Affairs was instructed to prioritize the timely submission and vetting of Bills so that legislative business can be conducted efficiently. Recognizing the importance of transparency and communication, the Speaker advised the Information Department to provide comprehensive media coverage and ensure technical support for live telecasts and documentation.

To improve digital connectivity and support real-time legislative work, the Information Technology Department was tasked with providing high-speed WiFi and robust technical infrastructure within the Assembly complex.

Security arrangements were another major focus area. The Security Wing was directed to maintain strict protocols, access control, and safety measures to ensure a secure and peaceful session. The Estates Department was told to complete all necessary repairs, maintenance, and intercom installations before the session begins.

Additionally, departments including Traffic, Power Development, Jal Shakti, and Srinagar Municipal Corporation were asked to coordinate closely to maintain smooth vehicular movement, uninterrupted electricity and water supply, and clean surroundings around the Assembly premises.

Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather urged all departments to work in synergy and uphold the dignity and decorum of the House. He emphasized that the upcoming session is crucial for public welfare and legislative progress, and every effort must be made to ensure its success.
