SEP 30: The Government College of Physical Education, Ganderbal, witnessed a historic moment as the Hon’ble Chief Minister inaugurated three significant sports infrastructure projects under the Youth Services and Sports Department. The projects include a Prefabricated Indoor Badminton Hall, a Synthetic Athletic Track, and a Synthetic Football Turf, collectively built at a cost exceeding ₹12 crore.

These world-class facilities mark a major milestone in the state’s mission to provide quality sports infrastructure to nurture talent and encourage youth participation in competitive sports. Designed with international standards in mind, the newly inaugurated projects are expected to redefine the sporting landscape of Ganderbal and nearby regions, offering professional-level training and exposure to aspiring athletes.

The Indoor Badminton Hall will enable year-round training irrespective of weather conditions, while the Synthetic Athletic Track provides athletes with the best environment to improve speed, endurance, and technique. The Synthetic Football Turf, equipped with modern amenities, will serve as a platform for budding footballers to practice and host competitive matches in a professional setting.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister highlighted that such projects are not just about infrastructure but about empowering the youth with opportunities to channel their energy positively. By equipping them with modern facilities, the government aims to identify and groom talent from grassroots levels, preparing them to compete on national and international stages.

The inauguration of these facilities demonstrates the government’s unwavering commitment to sports development in Jammu & Kashmir. It also reflects a broader vision of creating an enabling environment where youth can thrive through sports, build discipline, and contribute to the state’s growing recognition as a hub of sporting excellence.
