JUNE 19: As part of the Summer Media Internship Programme 2025–26, a group of enthusiastic student interns from Government MAM College and Government College for Women (GCW), Bhagwati Nagar, visited the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) office in Jammu. The visit was organized to provide hands-on exposure to the practical workings of the media and communication sector, aligning with the internship’s aim to bridge the gap between academic learning and professional experience.
During their visit, the interns had the opportunity to engage in a highly informative and interactive session with Shri Deepak Dubey, Joint Director of Information, Jammu. The session was designed to familiarize students with the pivotal role that the Information Department plays in disseminating official information, ensuring transparent communication between the government and the public, and managing the public narrative through responsible media engagement.
Mr. Dubey provided a detailed overview of the department’s functioning and elaborated on the various channels used by DIPR to reach diverse audiences. He also highlighted how the department collaborates with print, electronic, and digital media to effectively communicate government initiatives, programs, and policies.
A significant part of the discussion focused on the growing challenge of misinformation in the digital age. The Joint Director spoke at length about the department’s efforts to counter fake news, maintain factual integrity, and promote media literacy among citizens. He emphasized the importance of credible sources and responsible journalism in today’s rapidly evolving information landscape.
The interns showed keen interest in understanding how media campaigns are conceptualized and implemented, and how public feedback is integrated into the communication strategy. They also explored how new technologies and social media platforms are transforming the way public information is shared and consumed.
The session concluded with a Q&A segment, where interns posed thoughtful questions and received practical insights into the day-to-day challenges and responsibilities faced by the DIPR team. The interaction served as a valuable learning experience, leaving the students better informed and inspired to pursue careers in media, communication, and public relations.
The Department of Information and Public Relations expressed its continued commitment to nurturing young talent through such internship programs, which play a crucial role in shaping future media professionals.
