AUG 07: Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammad Alyas Khan, inaugurated the Inter-School District Level Sports Competition at Government Model Higher Secondary School (GMHSS) Ramban, marking a spirited celebration of youth sportsmanship and fitness. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from students representing all six educational zones of the district.
The competition featured boxing events across three age categories—Under-14, Under-17, and Under-19—providing a platform for budding athletes to showcase their skills, strength, and discipline. The atmosphere at GMHSS Ramban was charged with energy as students took to the ring with determination and sportsmanlike zeal.
Speaking at the event, DC Mohammad Alyas Khan emphasized the significance of sports in shaping a healthy and focused younger generation. He commended the participants for their discipline and encouraged them to pursue excellence both in academics and extracurricular activities. “Sports instill confidence, build character, and promote unity,” he stated, adding that platforms like these are essential for discovering and nurturing local talent.
In line with the government’s mission to combat substance abuse, the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan” (Drug-Free India Campaign) was also observed during the event. All present took the anti-drug pledge, reinforcing their commitment to a healthier and addiction-free society. The DC urged students to become ambassadors of the campaign and spread awareness about the harmful effects of substance abuse.
The successful coordination of the district-level event stands as a testament to the efforts of the education and youth services departments, teachers, and local administration, who worked collectively to make it a grand affair.
Such events not only promote physical well-being but also foster camaraderie and team spirit among students. Ramban continues to invest in youth-centric initiatives aimed at empowerment through education, sports, and social awareness.
