OCT 15:In a vibrant display of enthusiasm and social commitment, Minister Sakeena Itoo flagged off the Red Run 2025 in Srinagar, an event dedicated to raising awareness about HIV/AIDS prevention and promoting healthy living. The event witnessed overwhelming participation from more than 800 students, volunteers, and youth activists, who came together to spread the message of fitness, compassion, and collective responsibility.
Addressing the participants, Minister Itoo highlighted the crucial role of the youth in building a healthy and responsible society. She emphasized that awareness and education remain the most powerful tools in combating HIV/AIDS and eliminating the stigma associated with the disease. She urged young people to become ambassadors of change by leading awareness campaigns and encouraging open dialogue on health and social issues.
The Minister also drew attention to the growing challenge of drug abuse among the youth, stressing the need for strong community engagement and preventive efforts. She remarked that events like Red Run not only promote physical fitness but also instill a sense of discipline, teamwork, and civic duty among young citizens.
Organized in collaboration with local health departments and educational institutions, the Red Run aimed to unite communities in the fight against HIV/AIDS while inspiring individuals to adopt healthier lifestyles. Participants carried placards, wore symbolic red ribbons, and chanted slogans promoting awareness and inclusion.
The event concluded with an appreciation ceremony, where Minister Itoo commended the spirit and dedication of all participants, urging them to continue being agents of positive change in society.
