SEP 18:Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today visited Kalaban in the Poonch district to assess the damage caused by recent land subsidence in the area. Demonstrating a hands-on approach to crisis management, the Chief Minister personally inspected the affected site and interacted with the impacted families to understand their concerns and immediate needs.

During his visit, CM Abdullah announced an additional ₹38 lakh in financial aid for the affected families, supplementing the ₹50 lakh previously sanctioned under the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF). This brings the total relief package to ₹88 lakh, aimed at providing immediate support and ensuring a smoother path toward rehabilitation for the victims.

While addressing the locals, the Chief Minister assured that the government stands firmly with them during this difficult time. He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to providing all necessary support, including rehabilitation measures, for those who have lost homes or property due to the natural disaster.

Senior district officials and members of the local administration accompanied the Chief Minister during his visit. They briefed him on the extent of the damage, the number of displaced families, and the ongoing relief efforts. Omar Abdullah directed the authorities to ensure that all affected individuals receive timely assistance and that no family is left behind in the relief and rehabilitation process.

The Chief Minister also emphasized the importance of long-term planning and preventive measures to reduce the impact of such natural calamities in the future. He instructed the concerned departments to conduct a thorough geological assessment of the area and prepare a detailed rehabilitation and mitigation plan.
