13 May: DODA: The Health Department in Doda, in collaboration with a local NGO, organised a multi-specialty health camp at Village Dhara to provide free healthcare services to residents of remote areas. More than 1,000 patients reportedly benefited from the initiative.
The health camp was inaugurated by Tanvir Ahmed Rather in the presence of medical staff, healthcare workers, and local residents.
During the camp, specialist doctors offered free medical consultations and distributed medicines to patients. Diagnostic and laboratory services were also provided to help residents undergo essential health check-ups without having to travel long distances.
A National Mobile Medical Unit deployed at the camp conducted ultrasound examinations, ECG tests, and blood sugar screenings, allowing patients to access important diagnostic services at their doorstep.
Officials said the initiative was aimed at improving healthcare access for people living in far-flung and underserved areas of the district where medical facilities are often limited due to geographical challenges.
Medical teams attending the camp focused on general health consultations, early diagnosis, and awareness regarding preventive healthcare practices. Residents welcomed the initiative, stating that such programmes are highly beneficial for rural communities with limited access to specialist healthcare services.
Healthcare officials emphasized the importance of outreach programmes in strengthening rural health services and ensuring timely medical support for vulnerable populations.
The organisers also highlighted the role of mobile medical units in extending healthcare facilities to remote regions and improving early detection of health conditions.
Locals appreciated the efforts of the Health Department and participating medical teams, expressing hope that similar camps would continue to be organised regularly in rural areas of Doda district.
The initiative reflects ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare delivery systems and improve access to quality medical services across remote parts of Jammu and Kashmir.
